    VOLUNTEER Opportunities


    Goshen welcomes volunteers into the district and the classrooms. Please contact
    each buildings rep to ask how you can volunteer. The Goshen Board of Education does require
    a criminal records check on any one who is working one on one with the students. The
    school principals will determine if you as a volunteer will need to get a criminal records check.


    There are a lot of ways you as a volunteer can help your child's classroom:


    * Work with or tutor students
    * Read with students
    * Help with teacher's clerical work ( making copies, laminating, correcting papers)
    * Prepare materials
    * Chaperone field trips
    * Chaperone dances (middle school and high school)
    * help out in class with art projects
    * Appear as a speaker to:
    * Share my professional experience
    * Share my travels
    * Share my culture
    * Share a talent, skill or craft
    * Other types of things

    You as a volunteer can help in other areas of the school:


    * Publicize school events in community
    * Assist in clinic
    * set up/clean up for school events
    * Type/data entry or do other clerical work
    * Prepare newsletters
    * Prepare posters, displays, bulletin boards, etc.
    * Do photo coping and Laminating
    * Work in libraray
    * Photograph school activities
    * Videotape school activities
    * Greet visitor's in school office
    * Minor landscaping/beautification
    * Help monitor playground
    * Help monitor hallways (middle/high schools)
    * Teach after-school enrichment classes

    You as a volunteer can work at home also:

    * Donate cookies, cakes, etc.
    * Sew
    * Cutting papers etc.
    * Desktop publishing
    * Plan parties
    * Make phone calls
