Mrs. Drees’ social studies classes are starting prehistoric Native Americans. Last week, they did Edible Excavation. A story was read aloud as the students prepared their excavation sites out of cupcakes. They added mud (chocolate icing), a fire pit and ashes (chocolate chips & sprinkles), and bones (Tic-Tacs) to the first layer. They added structural posts (pretzel sticks) and pottery pieces(candy pieces) which were flooded by the local lakes (white icing dyed blue) to the second layer. Then they dug for core samples (using a straw) before excavating a the site. The final part was drawing their site and writing in their field journals before they got to eat.
Spaulding 3rd graders had a visit from the Clermont County Library Dreamweavers Troupe today!

Goshen Alumni Association would like to announce that we are accepting applications for the Hall of Fame. Applications are due by October 30th.
The purpose of The Goshen Local Schools Hall of Fame is to honor individuals, establish pride, and preserve the tradition of honoring those who have made a significant contribution to the Goshen Local School District.

Just like that, it's time to get ready for Goshen Local Schools Homecoming 2023!
Spirit Week begins on Monday Sept. 4 with the Powder Puff game and ends with the Homecoming football game (Sept. 8) and dance (Sept. 9.)

Spaulding students had their first assembly today to review our Warrior Up expectations and PBIS system. We look forward to all students being respectful, responsible, and problem solvers throughout the year!
Orientation isn't just for new students -- it's for new Goshen teachers too! Nine new educators were welcomed to the district yesterday with lunch, a meet-and-greet with district leaders and a van tour of our school campuses and district. Welcome to Goshen!
Due to the current rain and continued weather conditions, Popsicles on the Playground will be moved inside this evening. Please arrive at 5:30, 3rd graders will go to the cafeteria to receive their popsicle while parents meet in the gym. The parent information session will begin at 5:45.
