For the 2024-25 school year, all enrolled students of the Goshen Local School District are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge.

Goshen Local School District will be able to do this through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program. The CEP program allows schools and districts with high poverty rates to provide free breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students.

The district’s food services budget is reimbursed for the costs of these meals based on the percentage of students eligible for free meals through programs like SNAP and TANF. Goshen secured approval for the CEP program in July.

Students will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit an application. Students will still go through the cafeteria line, and will still need to type in their student ID number to receive a meal.

“We know that our students learn more and achieve higher goals when they are healthy and well-fed. We’re excited to be able to offer this benefit to Goshen students,” said Superintendent Brian Bailey. “Much credit is due to Food Services Director Brooke Huhn for pursuing this certification for our district and making this program possible.”

Families who wish to receive fee waivers for other school costs and fees must still apply for those benefits. The application for the 2024-2025 school year may be found here.
