The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) honored Bill Herrera, vice president of the Goshen Local Schools Board of Education, with the Aptitude Award at the Southwest Region OSBA Fall Conference held at Laurel Oaks in Wilmington on Thursday, October 10.
The Aptitude Award is a component of the OSBA STAR (Service, Training, Aptitude, Recognition) Award program, which acknowledges the dedication and skills of individual school board members. This recognition highlights Herrera's exceptional contributions to the board and his commitment to educational excellence.
The Goshen Local Schools Board of Education has a strong history of recognition, with members consistently demonstrating their effectiveness in areas such as clear goal-setting, unified teamwork with the superintendent and administration, and fiscal accountability.
Mr. Bailey, Mrs Scherzinger, and fellow board members Deborah Gray (president), Melissa Paprocki, and Lisa Wernke attended the conference to support Mr. Herrera and network with other school district leadership teams from around the southwest region.
Superintendent Brian Bailey expressed his pride in the board's accomplishments, stating, "This award confirms what those of us in Goshen already know: We have a terrific school board. We are particularly proud of Bill Herrera's recognition and are grateful for all of the work our board members do and the thoughtful consideration they give to each decision they make for our school district."
