The Ohio School Boards Association recognized the Goshen Local Schools Board of Education as a Gold Level Effective School Board on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

The award, which recognizes the outstanding work of the board, was presented at the Southwest Region OSBA Spring Conference in Xenia. This is the 15th consecutive year that a Goshen Board has received the Gold Award.

Gold level award winners meet at least 23 of 26 criteria determined by the OSBA, including among others, clear goal-setting, serving as a united team with the superintendent and administration, and practicing fiscal accountability.

Receiving the award are Board of Education members: Deborah Gray (president), Bill Herrera (vice president), Melissa Paprocki (board member), Lisa Wernke (board member) and district administration Brian Bailey, Theresa Scherzinger, and Todd Shinkle. Not pictured: Corey West (board member).

"I am incredibly proud that our Board of Education was recognized for achieving the OSBA Southwest Region Gold Award for the 15th consecutive year," Bailey said. "This achievement is the result of intentional, year-round efforts to ensure our board functions as a cohesive team focused on student success. By meeting the criteria for gold year after year, the Goshen Local Schools Board of Education has established a legacy of reliable leadership and steady progress toward our district goals.

"If you look at how far our district has come in 15 years, you will see consistent board leadership has played a large role. The board provides a stable foundation that allows our students, staff, and community to thrive, and for that, we are grateful," Bailey said.
